Fall 2002 environmental education field study sessions are filling quickly

With less than six weeks to go before the end of the spring 2002 environmental education season, books are open for the entire 2002-2003 school year, which is filling quickly.

Wednesday through Friday sessions available in the fall 2002 season are the first to go. Look over the school calendar. Now that more and more schools are starting in late July or the first week in August, an early fall season field study in late August or the first week in September may be feasible. Wahsega's program coordinator, Ed Barnes, is happy to work with you to make your trip planning go smoothly even if it is early in the season.

Teachers who come to the fall sessions swear by them. Planning and attending a fall EE field study really brings teachers and parents together early in the year. The relationships built early in the fall last the whole year. While some schools choose to use the spring field studies as a reward for good behavior, others find that a fall field study is more helpful. It just seems that once teachers know parents well, things go more smoothly in the classroom.

For information about booking your school, go to our Environmental Education Program webpage. Rates, a trip planning guide, class options, driving directions, contact information and even suggested journal pages can be found by following links from the EE webpages. Of course, if you can't find it there, try the search engine located under the left side menu or call or send an email to us here at Wahsega. The number is 706-864-2050 or send email to Ed Barnes, ebarnes at uga.edu.

We look forward to seeing you this fall.
