New geology and soils class offered to environmental education participants

Wahsega is now offering a new geology and soils class to participants in the Georgia 4-H Environmental Education program at Wahsega.

By offering our new Geology & Soils class, we hope to compliment the Earth science curriculum used in the classroom. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to dig into topics such as plate tectonics, the rock cycle and geologic forces that shape the land.

Activities include collecting soil profiles, identifying soil particles according to size and testing soil permeability. We hope that after experiencing this class your students will walk away with a greater appreciation for the ground they walk on and realize how geology affects each of our lives.
