Wahsega 4-H Center: 4-H Club Events
2012 Wahsega Volunteer Work Weekend
Join us for Wahsega 4-H Center's Volunteer Work Weekend, March 9-11, 2012.
We'll be grounds keeping, maintaining trails, completing carpentry projects and cleaning and painting.
If you would like to join us, there will be a place for you to use your skills.
Together, we can make a great place even better.
Who Should Participate
Adults 18 years old or older are encouraged to register to volunteer. This is not a 4-H club volunteer assignment and you will not be chaperoning youth. Anyone who is not an hourly employee of UGA may participate as a volunteer. Youth may participate but typically youth attend with their parents or a legal guardian. This is not designed as an event for 4-H clubs because the other adults present may or may not be certified chaperones.
Registration
Each individual or family planning to attend should email Travis Williams to register for the weekend. If you have any questions or need anything, just call our office at 706-864-2050 or email Travis.
What to Pack
Important information about what to pack for the weekend is available here as a PDF download.
What to Expect
Volunteers may attend any portion of the event from noon Friday to noon Sunday. We'll provide meals at 8:00, 12:00 and 6:00 beginning with lunch on Friday and going through lunch on Sunday as long as there are people signed up to be here to eat. Food service and lodging fees are waived for the weekend for all volunteer workers (but donations are always welcome).
Our big day is Saturday. If you just want to show up for the day, Saturday is the best day to be
here. Most folks don't arrive until late Friday and then many will leave Saturday evening.
We ask that everyone bring their own tools, gloves, boots, rain gear and
any other special supplies you may need. Bring your own sleeping bag, pillow, blankets, towels, soap and other
toiletries. We only provide a mattress in the cabins. We have a small
heater in the cabins, however, volunteers are not allowed to bring their own heater for the cabins. Download the packing information sheet at the link above for more information.
No dogs or other pets are allowed on center or in the cabins.
